E' da ben 3 anni che aspettavo questo momento.

Da quando, nel 2012, è uscito l'EP Delicious e questi 4 ragazzi di Birmingham (Harrison Koisser/voce e chitarra, Samuel Koisser/basso, Douglas Castle/chitarra, Dominic Boyce/batteria), hanno catturato la mia attenzione con atmosfere risonanti e riff energici quanto strazianti. In questi ultimi anni la loro città vede sfornare nuove bands come Swim Deep e Superfood, che fanno compagnia ai londinesi Palma Violets, e che fanno parte della nuova scena indie rock inglese.

E' sabato pomeriggio ed arrivo a Brighton con una certa agitazione che era da un po' non provavo per un concerto.
Mi incontro con un'amica che ha già assistito alle due date precedenti (anch'esse sold out) di giovedì e venerdì; "preparati", mi dice.

Ora la nostra destinazione è una sola: il The Haunt.
Arriviamo appena in tempo per ascoltare gli Our Girl, che ci accolgono nella loro città con suoni psichedelici e alienanti, ed una linea vocale usata come ci fosse un altro strumento sul palco: di sicuro un trio di cui sentiremo presto parlare.

Ma le luci si abbassano, la folla comincia ad agitarsi ed eccoli, i Peace salgono sul palco come fosse loro di diritto e ci regalano una energica "Follow Baby" seguita da "Lovesick", entrambe appartenenti al primo e più ingenuo album 'In Love' che, però, risulta sempre fresco.
La voce si fa più roca e le luci più abbaglianti per "Gen Strange" e "Money" che mi fanno notare quanto siano maturati con l'ultimo album 'Happy People' e quanto i loro testi siano più intensi e sfacciati.
La folla, formata da ragazzi per lo più giovani data l'ammissione fin dai 14 anni, sembra non perdersi una singola parola e si cerca di creare un pogo nel piccolo club quando Harry suggerisce 'questa è una delle canzoni più vecchie' e per quei 9 minuti che è "1998" veniamo trascinati con lui attraverso suoni distorti ed echi.
L'atmosfera si fa più intima quando "Someday" viene 'raccontata' con sentimento ai fans, seguita subito dopo dalla scoppiettante "Lost On Me". Il quartetto sfoggia una scaletta intensa con la nuova "Perfect Skin" e le 3 hits "Float Forever", "Higher Than The Sun" e, con una strizzata d'occhi la loro più caratteristica e a cui devono parte del loro successo, "Bloodshake"; con cui concludono la prima parte di concerto.

Io e la mia amica ci guardiamo, 'ora capisco cosa intendevi' le dico.
Non faccio in tempo a prendermi un gin tonic che la band sale di nuovo sul palco per un azzeccatissimo 'encore'.
Le note di "Wraith" ci fanno sperare di aver portato le nostre migliori scarpe da ballo, la singolare "I'm a Girl" inoltre, ci fa apparire Harry un ragazzo vulnerabile e ancora pieno di incertezze, più vicino a noi. Le danze si chiudono con "California Daze" e la bellissima "World Pleasure" con linee di basso che ti si insinuano dentro e ritmi che fanno sobbalzare lo stomaco.
I Peace concludono così 3 date tutte sold out ed un tour che li ha visti protagonisti di una scena musicale che, qui in UK, vede la sua rinascita.ed io mi ritrovo il giorno dopo con un tatuaggio fatto in caso ed un gran mal di testa.

I've been waiting for this moment for 3 years.
Since 2012, when the EP Delicious came out and 4 guys from Birmingham (Harrison Koisser/vocal and guitar, Samuel Koisser/bass, Douglas Castle/guitar, Dominic Boyce/drums) caught my attention with plangent atmospheres and energetic, as well as harrowing, riffs. During these years their hometown has seen bands like Swim Deep and Superfood coming to life, which, together with the Londoners Palma Violets, are now part of the British indie rock scene.

It's Saturday afternoon and I arrive in Brighton with a certain sense of excitement I haven't felt for a gig in a while.
I meet up with a friend who has already been to both Tuesday and Friday's sold out shows; 'be prepared', she says.
Now, our destination is the one and only: The Haunt.
We get there on time to see the opening band, 'Our Girl', who welcomes us in their hometown through psychedelic and alienating sounds, and a voice used as if it was another instrument playing, I bet we will hear from them quite soon.

But here we are, lights off, I can feel the excitement spreading through the crowd and suddenly Peace walk on the stage as if it was their own property giving us a dynamic "Follow Baby" followed by "Lovesick", both belonging to their first and more childish record 'In Love' which, no matter what, still sounds fresh.
The voice is getting raspy and the spotlight more shining for "Gen Strange" and "Money", which make me realise that they have become more mature within the recordings of the second album 'Happy People', as the lyrics are more intense and cheeky.

The audience mainly consists of teenagers, since the +14 admission,  doesn't miss a single sentence while attempting a moshpit in the small venue; when Harry claims 'this one is an oldie' and for those 9 minutes which is "1998" our mind is blown away through distorted vibes and echoes.
The atmosphere is more intimate when "Someday" is narrated with feeling to touched fans, but everything changes in a second when everybody sings along to "Lost On Me". The quartet shows off an intense setlist thanks to the new "Perfect Skin" and 3 of their old hits "Float Forever", "Higher than The Sun" and, with a wink and a naughty smile, their masterpiece, "Bloodshake", which ends the first part of the night.

Me and my friend look at each other, 'now I get what you meant' I say to her.
I'm still grabbing my gin tonic when the band go on stage again for a spot-on encore.
'I should have brought my best dancing shoes' I think when I hear "Wraith"'s notes. The iconic "I'm a Girl" places Harry on a different spot, as if he was a down-to-heart guy still full of doubts, closer to us. The final curtains are down right after "California Daze" and the stunning "World Pleasure" with its grooving bass lines and rhythms which get their way through your stomach.

After 3 sold out shows the tour is over and they are certainly protagonists of a music scene that, here in the Uk, is sprouting again.and well, what about me, I ended up the day after with a homemade tattoo and the worst headache.
